چکیده
The corrosion resistance and biocompatibility of a novel Fe50Cr18Mo10C20Si2 metallic glass (Fe–MG), are studied by electrochemical measurements indirect contacting cytotoxicity assays for biomedical applications. In Hank’s solution, the Fe–MG shows better than SS316L, evidenced larger polarization in potentiodynamic impedance spectroscopy (EIS) tests, lower amounts released ions during immersion test. X-ray photoelectron (XPS) analyses show that double-layer passive film, consisting outer Fe-rich oxide inner Cr-rich oxide, is formed on Fe–MG. stable together with defect-free nature glass, accounts good resistance. addition, vitro tests suggest extracts have blood compatibility, no to murine fibroblast cells. Compared other Fe-based glasses, prepared contains toxic elements, low rate.

Metallic glass thin films for potential biomedical applications.
We introduce metallic glass thin films (TiCuNi) as biocompatible materials for biomedical applications. TiCuNi metallic glass thin films were deposited on the Si substrate and their structural, surface, and mechanical properties were investigated. The fabricated films showed good biocompatibility upon exposure to muscle cells. Also, they exhibited an average roughness of <0.2 nm, high wear resi...
متن کاملGlass Forming Ability and Corrosion Resistance of Zr-Cu-Ni-Al-Ag Bulk Metallic Glass
Zr70−xCu12.5Ni10Al7.5Agx (x = 0–10) bulk metallic glasses (BMGs) have been prepared by copper mold casting. The glass-forming ability (GFA) and corrosion behavior of Zr-based BMGs have been investigated. It is found that the GFA of Zr-based BMGs first increases and then decreases with the increase of the Ag content, and the best glass former is Zr65Cu12.5Ni10Al7.5Ag5 with the maximum thickness ...
متن کاملEnhanced mechanical properties and in vitro corrosion behavior of amorphous and devitrified Ti40Zr10Cu38Pd12 metallic glass.
The effects of annealing treatments on the microstructure, elastic/mechanical properties, wear resistance and corrosion behavior of rod-shaped Ti40Zr10Cu38Pd12 bulk glassy alloys, synthesized by copper mold casting, are investigated. Formation of ultrafine crystals embedded in an amorphous matrix is observed for intermediate annealing temperatures, whereas a fully crystalline microstructure dev...
متن کاملPeptides and metallic nanoparticles for biomedical applications.
In this review, we describe the contribution of peptides to the biomedical applications of metallic nanoparticles. We also discuss strategies for the preparation of peptide-nanoparticle conjugates and the synthesis of the peptides and metallic nanoparticles. An overview of the techniques used for the characterization of the conjugates is also provided. Mainly for biomedical purposes, metallic n...
متن کاملEngineering Cellular Response Using Nanopatterned Bulk Metallic Glass
Nanopatterning of biomaterials is rapidly emerging as a tool to engineer cell function. Bulk metallic glasses (BMGs), a class of biocompatible materials, are uniquely suited to study nanopattern-cell interactions as they allow for versatile fabrication of nanopatterns through thermoplastic forming. Work presented here employs nanopatterned BMG substrates to explore detection of nanopattern feat...
